Citrus woman arrested after 72-year-old roommate found dead under tarp: Sheriff

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman was arrested for murder after her 72-year-old roommate was found dead wrapped in a tarp in Citrus County on Saturday.

According to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to 6033 East Rector Street for a report of a body being found there.


When officers entered the house, they found 72-year-old Andrea Kathleen Day wrapped in a tarp. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman’s roommate, Tracey Lee Stanley, 61, of Inverness, was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder, the sheriff’s office said. She was booked into the Citrus County Detention Facility, where she is being held without bail.

“My sincere condolences go out to Andrea Day’s family as they begin the long healing process,” Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast said in a statement. “This was a senseless act of violence. Thank you to our deputies and detectives who worked quickly and diligently to apprehend this suspect.”

No further details were released. The investigation is ongoing.
