Burglar shot dead in Denver’s university district

A man whom Denver police described as an “intruder” was shot and killed in the city’s university district early Sunday morning.

A resident of the 2300 block of East Evans Avenue was walking home shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday when he was surprised by an intruder, Denver police said in a post on X. The resident shot the man, who died at the scene.

The address is near the University of Denver.

The resident is cooperating with police and the investigation is ongoing, the department said.
