The suspect targeted drunk men and women, sexually assaulted them and then stole their personal belongings



A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with four rapes in Manchester city centre, during which he targeted drunken men and women and then stole their personal items.

Detectives investigating four separate rape cases since February 2024 arrested the man in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He is still in police custody for questioning and his identity has not yet been established.

Greater Manchester Police said the suspect targeted drunk men and women, raped his victims and then took their personal belongings.

Detective Superintendent Richard Hunt, head of the Rape and Other Sexual Offences Unit, said:
