Motorcyclist dies in accident on the Sea to Sky Highway

A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on the Sea to Sky Highway on Friday.

Corporal Madonna Saunderson told the Squamish Reporter that police were called to the scene of a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV on Highway 99 at Ocean Point Dr. The accident occurred on July 19 at 8:57 p.m.

“Unfortunately, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries,” she said. The southbound lanes of Highway 99 were closed for a short time and later reopened to one lane. While the investigation to determine the possible cause of the accident is ongoing, police do not believe that alcohol was involved.

In addition, two people were taken to hospital with injuries yesterday following an accident south of Murrin Lake.

Yesterday, a motorcyclist was also killed in a fatal accident in Vancouver. The Vancouver Fire Department was on call for an emergency call at around 12:45 p.m. yesterday when the accident occurred.
