Fatal shooting in Lowell under investigation

Lowell police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another man and woman injured, according to a statement from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

According to officials, police responded to reports of a shooting in the Middlesex Street parking lot at approximately 4:53 a.m. Saturday morning.

When police arrived at the scene, they found several victims who had apparently been shot.

According to police, the victims were a 43-year-old man, a 34-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman.

The two men were taken to a nearby hospital, where the 43-year-old was later pronounced dead, authorities said in a statement. The other man is still in the hospital, while the woman suffered only minor injuries, police said.

According to officials, the group had gathered in a parking lot early Saturday morning when a physical altercation occurred before the shooting.

The case remains under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Lowell Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
