Standoff with suspect continues after Homewood police officer shot in Moody

MOODY, Alabama (WIAT) – Moody police are investigating after a Homewood police officer was shot in Moody early Sunday morning.

According to Homewood police, a Homewood police officer was shot at around 4:41 a.m. in the 2700 block of Ashley Manor as he headed to work. As he entered his police vehicle, a suspect fired several shots into the front of the vehicle. The officer was hit once.


The officer radioed for assistance and surrounding authorities responded. The officer was transported to UAB Hospital and is in stable condition. There is currently no motive or suspect information.

The investigation is being conducted by the Moody Police Department.
