Internet shutdown in Nuh ahead of Jalabhishek Yatra | Delhi News

Ahead of the Brajmandal Jalabhishek Shobha Yatra on Monday in Haryana’s Nuh, the state government ordered suspension of internet and bulk SMS for 24 hours from 6 pm on Sunday. Police have also ordered that heavy vehicles should not enter Nuh before the end of the yatra.

Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata said that the orders were issued by Deputy Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in Nuh district during the procession. The Deputy Commissioner further said that exemptions have been made for personal SMS, mobile recharges, bank SMS, voice calls, corporate and residential broadband connections and internet leased lines.

All liquor shops will also remain closed on Monday until the religious procession ends, officials said.

The annual religious procession includes three temples in Nuh – Nalhar, Ferozepur Jhirka and Singar. Last year, violence broke out during the yatra, leaving six people dead. Among the dead were members of the Bajrang Dal and a minister of a mosque in Gurgaon.

To give the population a sense of security, a flag march was held in the area on Sunday in the presence of Police Commissioner Nuh Vijay Pratap.

Festive offer

Gurgaon Police held meetings with Hindu groups after the procession. Deputy Commissioner of Police West Karan Goel and DCP Manesar Deepak Kumar gave necessary guidelines to maintain peace. Participants were asked not to raise any provocative slogans during the procession.

Police urged the public not to believe any rumors.

According to officials, extensive preparations have already been made. Fourteen duty magistrates have been assigned to supervise the procession. Police said that commandos, bomb disposal squads and CRPF troops will also be deployed at every corner.

The Nuh police are also keeping an eye on the city, Nalheshwar Temple, Aravalli Hills, Badkali Chowk, Jhirakeshwar Temple and Shringeshwar Temple (Singhar) which are to be covered during the procession. The spokesperson said that the vehicles of people coming from other states and districts to take part in the yatra will be filmed and thoroughly checked to ensure that there are no explosives or weapons.

DCP (South) Sidhant Jain said drones were used to monitor traffic on the Sohna-Nuh highway.
