Teenager shot and man arrested after playing ‘Ding-Dong-Ditch’ game in Maine

A teenager was shot and seriously injured early Saturday morning after a 30-year-old man fired shots on Waterford Road in Harrison.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said several teenagers were playing “ding-dong-ditch,” which involves ringing a doorbell and running away.

Man fired several times with pistol

Vincent Martin shot them multiple times with a handgun after they knocked on his door and ran to 91 Waterford Road. Witnesses heard gunshots and screams, WGME News reported.

Teenager taken to hospital with gunshot wound

At about the same time that Bridgton Hospital reported a teenager with a gunshot wound as an accident victim, officers found blood on the street near the home.

Seriously injured

The teenager suffered a serious gunshot wound to the calf. His condition is stable, officials said.

Charged with crimes and misdemeanors

Martin was arrested and charged with two felonies – aggravated assault and aggravated reckless conduct. He is also charged with two misdemeanors, including discharging a firearm near a dwelling and discharging a firearm across a roadway.

Bail set at $10,000 cash

He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail and bail was set at $10,000 cash.
