A man in Clovis posed as an Uber driver and sexually assaulted a woman, police said

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man is wanted after he allegedly picked up an Old Town Clovis woman and sexually assaulted her at an undisclosed location in Fresno, Clovis police said.

According to officials, it is a 27-year-old Bikramjit Singh of Fresno is suspected of posing as an Uber driver the night of April 21 in Old Town Clovis, where he picked up a woman and took her to an undisclosed location in Fresno where she was sexually assaulted.

Investigators say the man is an Indian man, 1.79 meters tall, 65 kilograms, with black hair and brown eyes. His last known location was Fresno.

According to police, Uber confirmed that there was no vehicle registered to their company that matched the description of the white SUV Singh was driving. Additionally, police say the victim did not call for an Uber.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact Clovis police.

Officials also recommend that residents use the driver information in the app when using a rideshare service to confirm the vehicle and driver will pick it up.
