Journalist attacked in Turin, messages of solidarity from Schlein and Conte

“I express my solidarity and solidarity with Andrea Jolya journalist from ‘La Stampa’ who was attacked and beaten this evening in Turin by militants of Casa Pound just because he filmed them with his mobile phone as they celebrated their anniversary in front of the club,” explains the secretary of the Democratic Party in a note Elly Schlein“But I also express my deep concern about the climate of impunity that we continue to experience in the face of such serious incidents: what must we wait for the neo-fascist organisations to be dissolved, as the Constitution provides? We ask the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and to the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi to intervene immediately,” he adds.

“The attack on Andrea Joly, a journalist for the newspaper ‘La Stampa’, in Turin shows once again how important it is to strengthen democratic defences every day in order to combat hatred, intolerance and neo-fascist violence.” The president of the Five Star Movement (M5S) writes on Giuseppe Conte“This is a serious and unacceptable episode, but it is not an isolated case: the alarm bells have already rung several times about some anti-democratic tendencies in our country,” he stressed. “Politics and healthy forces have the task of intervening to put an end to this insane rise of arrogance and violence. My solidarity and that of the M5 goes out to Joly and the entire editorial staff,” Conte concluded.
