Newly married man of Indian origin shot dead in front of his wife – alleged incident of road rage

The incident occurred last week on July 16 at an intersection in Indianapolis, according to police and media reports. Gavin Dasaur, the victim, was on his way home with his Mexican wife, Viviana ZaMora, according to police.

An apparent case of road rage resulted in the death of a 29-year-old Indian-origin man in front of his wife in the US state of Indiana. The victim was carrying a gun when he confronted the other driver in a pickup truck. The suspected shooter, who was initially arrested at the scene, was later released, suggesting they may have acted in “self-defense.”

The incident occurred last week on July 16 at an intersection in Indianapolis, according to police and media reports. Gavin Dasaur, the victim, was on his way home with his Mexican wife, Viviana ZaMora, according to police.

According to local WTHR reports, the man, originally from Agra in Uttar Pradesh, married ZaMora on June 29, just over two weeks before his death. In the video, Dasaur is seen approaching the driver’s side of the pickup truck while holding a gun in his right hand and banging it on the door. He then raises his right hand to the window of the pickup truck and takes the gun in his left hand.

In response, the driver of the pickup truck fires three times, causing Dasaur to immediately fall to the ground. During the brief, seven-second encounter, the gunman does not get out of his car.

Indianapolis Police Department (IMPD) Officer Amanda Hibschman reported that police were called to an intersection in the southeast part of the city shortly after 8 p.m. on July 16 for a report of a gunshot victim. Officers arrived at the scene and reported seeing a man lying on the ground in the middle of the street with at least one gunshot wound. The gunshot victim was identified by the man’s wife. “I held him as he bled out and waited for the ambulance,” the victim’s widow told The Indianapolis Star.

The shooting and alleged road rage incident remain under investigation, according to IMPD. As Dasaur’s wife mourned her husband’s death, she condemned the shooting. She told the local newspaper, “He was a hard-working man who wanted to give me and his family the world and always went out of his way to help anyone.”
