Double shooting in Portsmouth: Police investigate

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Portsmouth police are investigating a double shooting.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the 400 block of Effingham Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. The woman was taken to the hospital by paramedics.

Some time later, officers learned that a second victim had been taken to a local hospital in connection with the same incident.

We are working to find out how both people are doing.

There is currently no information available about the suspect.
