Mass shooting at party in West Philadelphia leaves three dead and several injured – NBC10 Philadelphia

At least three people are dead and seven others injured after a mass shooting at a party in West Philadelphia early Sunday.

According to police, the incident occurred during a party attended by about 100 to 150 people near the intersection of Alden Street and Girard Avenue in West Philadelphia around 2 a.m.

Speaking to NBC10 at the scene, Philadelphia Police Inspector DF Pace said all of the people shot were believed to be adult males.

Of those victims, a 33-year-old man was found dead at the scene and a 23-year-old man was found dead after being taken to a nearby hospital, Pace said.

The person who was found dead at the scene was shot from “very close range” and the aim was probably to attack someone.

As of about 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, police had not yet received any information about the identity of the third person killed.

He said the crime scene spanned about half a city block and investigators found about 25 to 30 shell casings in that area.

“It looks like there were multiple shooters. How many there were is unclear at this time,” Pace said.

The injuries of the other victims, Pace said, ranged from critical to stable.

Pace said investigators are still looking for surveillance footage to determine how the incident unfolded, but so far no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.

“The investigation is still in its early stages and there are still many unanswered questions,” Pace said.

However, he said officers recovered a firearm at the scene and the investigation was ongoing.
