Sheriff’s deputies shoot man in West Hollywood – NBC Los Angeles

An investigation is underway after sheriff’s officers shot and killed a man in West Hollywood on Saturday night, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

Police said the shooting occurred around 5:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of N. Gardener Street after police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a nearby 7-Eleven. The person shot by officers was taken to a nearby hospital and died of his injuries. None of the officers were injured.

Details of the incidents were not released. Investigators said they found a gun at the scene but did not disclose what type of weapon it was.

Neither the name of the person killed nor the names of the officers who opened fire were released.

Jenna Finley, who lives in the area, said the shooting frightened her.

“I heard rapid gunshots out of nowhere, so we came out maybe a minute later to check and there was a guy on his back on the ground,” Finley said. “I’d say four or five cops were tending to him and giving him first aid. We stood around for a while and noticed that the car right behind him had been shot at, so there was a bullet hole in the window. It went all the way through the car and came out the other side.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the LASD Homicide Division at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
