Man from Wantage convicted of sexual assault

Richard Illingworth, of Church Street, East Hendred, appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Friday (July 19) charged with assault by penetration.

It was found that the offence took place in Wantage on 22 October 2022 and the complainant cannot be named for legal reasons.

The 42-year-old, who previously had a good reputation, pleaded guilty to the crime.

His sentencing date has now been set for Friday 6 September and has been adjourned to allow a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Illingworth was granted conditional bail until that date, with the condition that he have no contact with the complainant in this case.
