Newly married man of Indian origin shot dead in road rage incident in the US

A newly married man of Indian descent was shot dead in the US state of Indiana in an alleged case of road rage. Gavin Dasaur (29) was on his way home with his Mexican wife on Tuesday (July 16) when the incident occurred in the city of Indianapolis.

Dasaur had an argument with the driver of a pickup truck, after which he was shot. Dasaur, who hails from Agra, married Viviana ZaMora on June 29.

After the gunshot wound, he was taken to hospital but died during treatment.

“I held him while he bled to death and waited for the ambulance,” the victim’s widow, Cinthya ZaMora, told police, local media reported.

According to police, the driver of the pickup truck may have acted in self-defense because Dasaur came toward his vehicle screaming and with a gun in his hand.

He stood outside, banged his gun against the vehicle door and shouted at the driver before the driver fired several shots at him from close range.

The horrific scene was captured on camera.

“After further investigation and after consultation with the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, the individual was released,” the police spokesman was quoted as saying in local media.

“My heart is shattered”

Cinthya Zamora, Dasaur’s wife, spoke to the media after the tragedy.

“He was a hard-working man who always went out of his way to help everyone and who wanted to give the world to me and his family,” she told 13News.

“He did not deserve this death. It is a tragedy that my husband was murdered in cold blood.”

“As a grieving widow, my heart is broken and my world will never be the same,” ZaMora said.
