Shock in Maharashtra: Underage girl from Mumbai raped by man in Matheran, 2 other people film the act and upload video to Instagram; 1 person arrested

Mumbai, July 21: In a disturbing incident, a 14-year-old girl from Mumbai was allegedly raped in Maharashtra’s Matheran district. The crime was filmed by her acquaintances. Antop Hill police have arrested a 22-year-old man who allegedly filmed the assault and uploaded it on Instagram. The victim’s minor boyfriend, who was also involved in shooting the video, is wanted by the authorities along with the man from Ghatkopar accused of rape.

According to the Indian ExpressThe minor girl was brought to Matheran by her minor friend and her 22-year-old male companion. During their visit, they were joined by a man from Ghatkopar who allegedly raped the girl. Shockingly, her friend and the 22-year-old man filmed the incident and shared it on social media. The victim’s relatives discovered the video online and alerted her family, who then filed a formal complaint. The 22-year-old suspect has been arrested while the search continues for the other two accused. They face charges under various sections of the law, including sexual harassment, kidnapping and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
