Newly married man of Indian descent shot dead in USA in suspected road rage incident

A 29-year-old man of Indian descent was shot in front of his wife in Indiana in an alleged road rage incident, according to police and media reports. The victim, Gavin Dasaur, was on his way home with his Mexican wife when the incident occurred.Officer Amanda Hibschman of the Indianapolis Police Department (IMPD) stated that officers responded to a report of a person shot at an intersection in southeast Indianapolis just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday last week.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the middle of the street with at least one gunshot wound. The victim’s wife identified him at the scene.

“I held him as he bled to death and waited for the ambulance,” the victim’s widow, Viviana ZaMora, told the Indianapolis Star.

Dasaur, who reportedly hailed from Agra, and Viviana ZaMora had only married on June 29, just over two weeks before his death.

Witnesses told police that the shooting occurred during an aggressive incident between the Chevy driver and Dasaur, who was driving a black Honda, local WTHR reported.

The suspected shooter, Hibschman said, was arrested at the scene.

“After further investigation and after consultation with the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, the individual was released,” the police spokesman said, suggesting that the shooter may have acted in self-defense.

IMPD said the investigation into the shooting and the alleged incident of driving aggression is ongoing.

Dasaur’s wife condemned the shooting as she mourned the death of her husband.

“He was a hard-working man who always went out of his way to help others and who wanted to give the world to me and his family,” she told the local newspaper. A cellphone video taken by another driver at the scene of the accident shows Dasaur getting out of his car at the intersection.

Dasaur appears angry and yells at the pickup truck driver, Fox News reported.

A pistol is clearly visible in Dasaur’s right hand.

As he approaches the driver’s side of the pickup, Dasaur hits the pickup’s door with the gun in his hand.

Then Dasaur takes the weapon in his left hand and simultaneously raises his right hand to the window of the truck.

The driver of the pickup truck responds by shooting three times.

Dasaur immediately falls to the ground. The gunman did not even leave his vehicle during the confrontation, which lasted only seven seconds.
