In a horrific incident, a woman in Pune was beaten by an elderly man because she did not let him overtake her two-wheeler.

Jerlyn D’Silva posted a video on her Instagram account describing the incident. She can be seen in a tense state as she speaks and still has blood on her nose.

Jerlyn was riding a scooter with her two children on Pashan-Baner Link Road. An elderly man in a car was racing behind them for over 2 kilometers. To make way for his car, Jerlyn moved to the left side of the road. However, the man overtook her and stopped the car in front of the scooter.

“He got out of the car very angry. He hit me twice and pulled my hair. I had two children; he didn’t care about them. How safe is this city?” she said in the video.

“I had two children with me, kuch bhi ho sakta tha (anything could have happened),” she added.

Jerlyn’s uncle Vishal told NDTV that he met her after learning about the incident.

“She told me that the man in the car attacked her for no reason. The scooter did not touch his car. He probably did it just to show how strong he was. He got out of the car, asked her why she was driving the way she was and started attacking her.”

He added that the man was accompanied by his wife, but she did not take any action.

“The children were not physically injured, but they were scared and screaming,” he said, as reported NDTV.

The man was identified as Swapnil Kekre and a case was registered against him.

This is not the first case of road rage in Pune. Two months ago, a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old boy collided with a motorcycle, killing two people. According to police, the teenager was drunk at the time of the accident.
