Son charged with attempted murder after attacking mother: Sheriff

LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Denver man has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.

On July 19, officers were called near the 700 block of North Little Egypt Road in Denver after the victim’s son called 911 to report that he had attacked his mother.

When officers arrived at the scene, they arrested the victim’s son.

Lincoln County EMS immediately assisted the victim and took her to the hospital. The 77-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with severe head and body injuries. She is currently in critical condition.

According to investigators, the victim’s son admitted that he became angry with his mother and hit her.

Lynard Edward Hunter, 58, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and is being held without bail at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center.
