Edo Assembly Speaker suspends three MPs

The Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Hon Blessing Agbebaku, yesterday literally suspended three MPs over an alleged conspiracy to impeach him and other senior officers of Parliament.

The three suspended MPs are Donald Okogbe (PDP Akoko-Edo11), Bright Iyamu (PDP Orhionmwon South) and Adeh Isibor (PDP, Esan North East 1).

Resuming the plenary session yesterday, Agbebaku alleged that the three suspended members were being influenced by external forces to cause chaos and overthrow the leadership of the House.

He also alleged that on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at midnight, some people brought local doctors to the house to cast some demonic incantations and drop spells in the meeting room.

During the noisy session, the three suspended MPs responded by shouting: “Mr. Speaker, you do not have the right to unilaterally suspend one or more members of the House of Representatives.” They must call for a vote. Allow members to vote on the matter,” they said.
