Atlanta United fans react to 2025 season ticket price increase

Atlanta United beat Columbus 2-1. It was the team’s second home win in its last 10 games. Its struggles this season are part of the reason Hamm and others are upset about the ticket price hike.

Some players said they didn’t notice the crowd was less engaged.

“Yes, it was a bit different,” Stian Gregersen said. “There was no noise after the first goal. When they enjoy the game, it gives us a lot of energy.”

An Atlanta United spokesperson said the franchise had no comment on the protest.

Hamm explained the steps he and others took to protest. He even donned a T-shirt that read “Don’t Price Myself.”

“What we’re doing during the game, in terms of not orchestrating, is showing United exactly where our community is headed if they take us out,” he said. “We’re all united in terms of blockchain. We feel that the way we’ve been treated by management and the way we’ve been treated as a community is not worth that.”

Austin Hegwood, a friend of Hamm’s, also protested.

“The fact that management wants to raise our prices by 56 percent over the last eight years indicates that our product is poor,” he said. “Why are we here when you’re trying to raise prices and force us out?”

The protest appeared to have ended after Gregersen scored his second goal in the 76th minute.

Supporters have until August 15 to decide whether to pay next year’s ticket prices, when existing accounts will start to be debited. Supporters have less than a month to decide whether to renew their season tickets.
