Man arrives at hospital with stab wounds after Escondido police respond to reports of a gang brawl

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) – A man is in critical condition after being taken to a North County hospital with stab wounds following a gang brawl in Escondido Saturday afternoon, police said.

The Escondido Police Department’s dispatch center received a 911 call at 1:42 p.m. Saturday about a group fight in the 300 block of W. El Norte Pkwy in Escondido, according to the Escondido Police Department. When officers arrived at the scene, no one was at the scene, police said.


But just 15 minutes later, police were notified by Palomar Medical Center that a man had come into the emergency room with stab wounds. According to police, the man, whose identity has not yet been released, is in critical condition.

Officers at the hospital were able to determine that the victim’s injuries were related to the fight. Police say no one is in custody and there is currently no description of the suspect.

Escondido Police Detectives are investigating the possibility that the incident is related to gang violence.
