Wilmington man arrested on multiple charges after traffic stop in Dewey Beach | Latest News

DEWEY BEACH, DE – A Wilmington man was arrested on numerous charges following a traffic stop in Sussex County.

On Friday, July 19, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Dewey Beach Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a blue 2020 Hyundai Sonata with New York registration. Officers stopped the vehicle after observing it crossing the solid “white fog line” on the right side of Coastal Highway. Dewey Beach Police also stated that the driver was not properly wearing his seatbelt.

According to officers, they noticed an odor of “burnt marijuana” coming from inside the vehicle.

The driver showed officers a New York driver’s license belonging to another person. He was later identified as 36-year-old Ramone Shy of Wilmington, Delaware.

According to Dewey Beach police, Shy attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended by officers after a short foot chase.

According to police, when officers searched his vehicle they found black gloves, a flashlight, a window punch, a wire cutter and a flathead screwdriver. Police say these items are commonly used to gain unauthorized entry into a building.

Ramone Shy was accused of the following:

– Serious possession of burglary tools

– Criminal imitation as a minor offense

– Resisting arrest

– Illegal conduct

– Incorrect information on the driving license

– Violation of the seat belt requirement

Shy was arraigned and remanded to Sussex Correctional Institution on $14,550 bail.
