Motorcyclist killed in accident with fire truck in Vancouver

VANCOUVER – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a fire truck on duty in Vancouver.

A statement from the Vancouver Fire Department said the accident occurred this afternoon near Lost Lagoon on the Stanley Park Causeway.

The accident has closed the road to traffic and the Vancouver Fire Department says the dam will remain closed for the duration of the investigation.

The statement said the unidentified motorcyclist died at the scene despite the efforts of rescue personnel. A full investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the fatal accident.

TransLink confirmed on social media that the accident had disrupted some of its bus routes to downtown Vancouver and the North Shore. The City of Vancouver also informed drivers that the Lions Gate Bridge was also closed.

No further details about the crash have been released.
