Man found dead after being trapped under an off-road vehicle

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Knox County Sheriff’s Department reports it received a call Saturday morning about a man found dead after being pinned under an ATV. The man was identified as 59-year-old James E. Vaughn of Swan Pond.

According to the sheriff’s office, Vaughn’s family spoke with him around 2 p.m. Friday – he said he was going to get some wood. The family said they hadn’t heard from him, so they began a search that lasted all night.

Vaughn was found on Rufus Mills Ridge, near KY South 11, in the Barbourville area.

Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremiah Williams and Deputy Coroner Mike Trent arrived at the scene and identified Vaughn.
