Person in police custody allegedly killed 4 relatives in NYC: NYPD

BROOKLYN, NY (PIX11) – We are learning disturbing new details about a gruesome quadruple murder in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.

Four members of the same family, including two young children, have died. One family member is currently in custody.

Police said they were called to an apartment on the corner of West 8th and Avenue P around 10:30 p.m. Friday night where an attack had occurred.

According to sources, a man came home and found his wife, two young children and his mother in the apartment, all with stab wounds.

They were all pronounced dead at the scene.

The police then arrested the man’s 24-year-old brother.

A woman named Guzal lives in the building and says she knew one of the women. “She always helped me when I came here ten years ago and she was always helpful.”

Neighbors say the family originally comes from Uzbekistan and has lived in the building for years.

Jennifer Ponti was still stunned after seeing police removing body bags from the apartment.

Ponti said: “It’s sad. It’s terrible. Babies should never die.”

Investigators believe the stabbings were the result of a domestic dispute.

The 24-year-old man is now involved in the deaths of his own mother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew.

He was taken into custody for questioning.

A neighbor said a large crowd gathered outside after the stabbings to comfort the family.

Juan Perez said: “Several men were sobbing and crying inconsolably, and several men were trying to console and just crying.”

“It’s heartbreaking to hear this. They don’t deserve this.”

The victims were identified as 56-year-old Fayzieva Mavlyuda, 27-year-old Maftuna Khakimova, 5-year-old Kamila Shavkatova and 4-year-old Timur Shavkatov.

Police have not disclosed the identity of the 24-year-old person.
