SABINE PARISH, Louisiana (KTAL/KMSS) – Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Officer Aaron Mitchell reported that a woman was found dead at the Apollo Plaza Apartments in Many early this morning.

The sheriff announced June 20 that 29-year-old Marissa Freeman of Many was pronounced dead at 2:46 a.m. by the Sabine Parish Coroner’s Office.

Freeman’s body “exhibited numerous cuts, bruises and blunt force trauma to the head and face,” the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office (SPSO) reported on social media.

Investigators said she was taken to Ochsner LSU Health Medical Center in Shreveport for an autopsy.

In the same post, SPSO stated that they had arrested David Dawson Grimes of Many and charged the 49-year-old with first-degree murder. Bail has not yet been set.

It is reported that detectives from the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating the case and have continued to collect evidence and speak with witnesses.

SPSO concluded the post by saying, “Sheriff Mitchell is thinking of Freeman’s family and friends and is praying for them.”
