One man dead, two seriously injured in shooting in San Diego County

A 19-year-old man is dead and two people are in critical condition following a shooting today at an undisclosed location in San Diego County, authorities said.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department received reports around 2:25 a.m. Saturday of four victims who suffered apparent gunshot wounds and later arrived at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, sheriff’s officials said.

Police reported that a fifth man, possibly a driver, accompanied the victims to the hospital.

“The victims were taken to the hospital, one died, and the homicide unit took over the investigation,” a sheriff’s department spokesman told City News Service.

According to the department, detectives interviewed witnesses and attempted to locate a crime scene.

Information about the suspect was not immediately available.
