Sexual harassment by strangers

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) of Surrey are investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger in her home in the Bear Creek neighbourhood.

Cpl. Sarbjit Sanghan said police responded to a report of a sexual assault in the 14100 block of 91 Avenue at 3:15 a.m. on July 20.

“The victim reported being awakened by a man groping her in his apartment. The victim screamed for help and the suspect fled,” Sanghan said in a press release.

“The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit has now taken action and continues to monitor the area through video surveillance. The victim is being assisted by Surrey RCMP Victim Support Services.”

The suspect is described as a South Asian man in his early 20s, 5’7″ to 5’10” tall, of average build and with a long black beard.

Police are looking for anyone who may have seen the suspect or has information about him between 11pm on July 19 and 3.30am on July 20.
