30-year-old man killed after shooting in West Cornwallis Drive apartment, Greensboro police say

OKAY. THANKS. DYLAN, IT’S 802 AM AND NEW THIS MORNING. GREENSBORO POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A MURDER THAT OCCURRED ON FRIDAY. OFFICERS SAY A PERSON CAME TO GREENSBORO FIRE STATION #5 WITH A GUNSHOT WOUND. THEY TOLD FIREMEN THEY WERE SHOT IN AN APARTMENT ON WEST CORNWALLIS DRIVE, ADDING THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER VICTIM. THE PERSON WHO REPORTED THE SHOOTING WAS TREATED IN THE MEANS. THE SECOND VICTIM, 30-YEAR-OLD CHRISTOHER BENNETT, WAS PRONUNCIATED DEAD AT THE STATION. NO INFORMATION ON SUSPECTS HAS BEEN RELEASED IN GREENSBORO.

According to the Greensboro Police Department, officers are searching for a suspect in connection with the killing of a 30-year-old man and injuring another person in a shooting at an apartment complex. At around 10 a.m. Friday, officers were notified that a victim had arrived at Fire Station 5 in Greensboro with a gunshot wound. The victim told officers he was shot at an apartment in the 2200 block of West Cornwallis Drive. According to officers, the victim told them another person was shot at the same complex. Officers said they drove to West Cornwallis Drive and found 30-year-old Christopher Bennet, who had succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin have been notified. The victim, who went to the fire station for help, was taken to the hospital, from which he has since been released. The victim told officers he was shot at an apartment in the 2200 block of West Cornwallis Drive. According to officers, the victim said another person was shot at the same complex.

Officers said they went to West Cornwallis Drive and found 30-year-old Christopher Bennet, who had succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin have been notified.

The victim, who went to the fire station for help, was taken to the hospital where he has since been released.
