I was never suspended from the Labour Party – Hilda Dokubo

Veteran Nollywood actress and now politician Hilda Dokubo has stated that she has never been suspended as a member of the Labour Party (LP) in Rivers State.

Dokubo, the LP chairman in Rivers, was reportedly suspended by the party’s district executive committee on Thursday over financial misconduct.

In a viral video on Instagram, Dokubo responded to the report, saying: “I was never suspended. Everyone in this publication is not a member of the Labor Party because the LP has a registry and knows all the members, especially in the Asarito-Torí community.”

“So these are PDP boys carrying out their master’s orders. So the question would be why? I have worked in Nollywood for over 30 years without any blemish or scandal. I have worked with international organisations for 10 years. Not one day was there any mention of me taking anything. Because my work is characterised by integrity and honour. These are the things they look into before giving you a job.

“When they say you are venturing into politics, you are entering murky waters. This is corruption that strikes back. That is why I am doing this programme. Dear ones, we are doing membership renewal and registering members to strengthen our communities. If you refuse to take a bribe, you will be threatened and if you do not take threats, they will certainly look for a way to hurt you.

“I was never suspended. I had no time to deal with money. We have no money. I am the chairman of the party in Rivers State, not the financial secretary or treasurer, I am not even a District 3 executive committee member. So I think they have missed the point.”
