From Tribune staff reports

WALKER COUNTY – A two-vehicle crash that occurred around 12:35 p.m. on Friday, July 19, has claimed the life of a Dora woman, according to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

“Melissa S. Parker, 42, was fatally injured when her 2006 Toyota Tundra left the roadway and was struck by the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jose S. Perez, 34, of Bessemer,” Bailey said. “Before impact occurred, both vehicles left the roadway, resulting in the roadside crash.”

Parker was pronounced dead at the scene. Perez and a passenger in the Silverado, Louis F. Trevino, 31, of Bessemer, were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Perez and Trevino were both taken to Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Jasper for treatment with injuries.

The accident occurred on Horse Creek Boulevard near Singleton Road, about one mile west of Dora in Walker County. No further information is available as ALEA Highway Patrol Division officers continue to investigate.
