Incident involving mayor and husband of Taunton: Police called

TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) – Taunton Mayor Shaunna O’Connell admitted Saturday that police were called because of an argument between her and her husband.

“Ted and I have been married for 27 years,” O’Connell said in a statement. “Like all couples, we have had challenges. We have worked through marital issues. During an argument, Ted called the police and regrets that decision.”

As of Saturday afternoon, the police had not yet responded to questions about the incident.

“We ask our family for privacy on personal matters while we work through this matter,” O’Connell said.

O’Connell, a former state representative, was first elected mayor in 2019 and won a third term last November.
