New Delhi: A teacher at a Catholic school in Delaware was arrested for allegedly sending sexually explicit images to a 14-year-old former student via Snapchat. Authorities said Alanis Pinion, a 24-year-old 8th-grade teacher at St. Mary Magdalen School in Wilmington, communicated with her students via Snapchat. She allegedly sent obscene photos to a student, who then informed his parents, according to a report in the New York Post.

On July 18, Pinion was taken into custody by New Castle County police and school administrators were notified. Pinion is facing charges including sexual battery of a child under 18, endangering the welfare of a child, and indecent exposure.

Teacher remains in custody despite bail

Although the court granted her bail, Pinion remains incarcerated at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution because she cannot pay the $46,000 bail. Authorities have indicated that there may be other victims who have not yet come forward. Reverend James T Kirk of Saint Mary Magdalen Parish explained that Pinion was employed part-time at the school and underwent a background check before being hired. Her one-year contract ended on June 30.
