At least 13 people were killed in Israeli air strikes on houses in the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza on Saturday, according to hospital officials and the Gaza Strip Civil Defense Force.

The casualties were caused by two separate attacks on the camp, officials said. CNN has informed the Israeli military about the latest attacks.

Civil defense also said a residential block south of Nuseirat had been hit. Hospital officials said three bodies had been flown in.

“A block of flats was bombed recently,” Mahdi Abdullah, an internally displaced person from Nuseirat in northern Gaza, told CNN. “The situation here is difficult and I am waiting for things to calm down so I can return to my place.”

The Israeli military has carried out numerous deadly raids on Nuseirat, including several UN schools housing displaced people. The Israeli military said its targets were Hamas camps operating inside the schools.

Residents of Nuseirat reported living in constant fear of bombs and a deteriorating humanitarian situation.

“The situation is scary,” said Rahma Abu Hajjaj, a 39-year-old mother of five from Nuserirat. “There are no warnings, there is no alarm when houses are bombed. We hide all the time and we don’t know why they are attacking these houses.”

The Health Ministry in Gaza said 37 people were killed and 54 injured in the last 24 hours due to ongoing Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.

The ministry said the total number of deaths since October 7 now stands at 38,919 people, with another 89,622 people injured. The ministry makes no distinction between civilians and combatants killed.

Israel launched its ground offensive in the Gaza Strip following Hamas attacks on October 7 that killed around 1,200 people.
