Diepsloot leader demands deportation of Ethiopian accused of child rape

A community leader has called for the deportation of a 34-year-old Ethiopian man accused of raping a seven-year-old girl from Diepsloot in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Diepsloot demands justice for rape victims

Sekoto spoke with IOL after the kiosk owner appeared for his bail hearing at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on 18 July 2024.

The minor was reportedly raped in the store on July 11, 2024 in the presence of her eight-year-old sibling. Performance987The family reported the incident with the support of the Diepsloot Community Forum and the police opened the case three days after the sexual assault.

The judge adjourned the trial against the kiosk owner until July 25, 2024, to give the state the opportunity to organize an interpreter for Amharic, the defendant’s language.
