Braves-Cardinals postponed, doubleheader Saturday

The Braves-Cardinals game was postponed Friday due to inclement weather. The teams will play a split doubleheader Saturday. Game 1 will start at 1 p.m. and Game 2 at 7:20 p.m. A separate ticket is required for each game.

Once Game 1 is complete, Truist Park will close and the gates will reopen approximately one hour after the final tipoff of Game 1.

Spencer Schwellenbach was scheduled to pitch for the Braves against Cardinals ace Sonny Gray. Charlie Morton and Max Fried were scheduled to start the next two games for the Braves, respectively. But the team has changed its rotation plans.

Charlie Morton will start Game 1 on Saturday, followed by Bryce Elder in Game 2. Spencer Schwellenbach will start on Sunday. The Cardinals will start Kyle Gibson in Game 1 and Gray in Game 2.

After the series against the Cardinals, the Braves host the Reds before beginning a road trip to New York and Milwaukee before the trade deadline.

The Braves enter the second half of the season 8 1/2 games behind the Phillies in the National League East. They will obviously need a very strong second half of the season to extend their streak to seven consecutive division titles.
