LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities in Nebraska are searching for a 29-year-old Lexington man accused of sexually abusing a young girl.

Lexington police said Thursday that Jimmy Bran-Lopez is wanted on suspicion of first-degree false imprisonment, child molestation and third-degree sexual assault.

According to court records, Dawson County Judge Garrett Goodwin issued a warrant for his arrest on May 1.

Between September 2018 and September 2020, Bran-Lopez sexually assaulted a girl in his vehicle, an affidavit said.

She was 15 to 17 years old at the time; he was 23 to 25.

Court documents say she didn’t think people would believe her because “everyone thought he was a great guy,” so she didn’t report the attack.

But she told police about it last month while investigating another allegation against Bran-Lopez.

In this case, he was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child. Police said he raped a 10-year-old girl more than 10 times in late 2020 and early 2021.

Bran-Lopez was arrested on April 15 but paid $50,000 bail to be released two days later.

He is a 5-foot-7, 200-pound Hispanic man with black hair and brown eyes.

Lexington police said Bran-Lopez is potentially dangerous so no one should approach him.

“It is important to emphasize that the public should not attempt to arrest Lopez themselves as he may pose a danger to others,” the department said on Facebook.

If you see him, call Lexington police at 308-324-2317 or 911 if it is an emergency.
