The Society of St Vincent de Paul, one of Ireland’s largest and most respected charities, has suspended a long-serving volunteer after he was accused of sexually harassing a vulnerable woman who had asked the organisation for financial support.

The man, whose name cannot be disclosed, is said to have attacked “Caroline” in his car before showing up at her home the next day and offering her money.
