Man charged with sexual abuse of minor in Hendry County

A man was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting an underage girl in Hendry County. According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a disturbance at a home in the Montura Ranch Estates community on July 11. Officers arrived on the scene to find an underage girl and William Diaz, 48. The girl told officers she had been sexually assaulted by Diaz. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence. During the investigation, it was learned that Diaz had reportedly made threats to the juvenile and other family members, according to the HCSO. Diaz faces the following charges: Sexual Assault by a Guardian (3 counts) Sexual Assault with a Weapon or Force Lewd or Lascivious Assault on a Victim Ages 12 to 16 (3 counts) Lewd or Lascivious Molestation (3 counts) Threats; Extortion with intent to commit a crime. Aggravated assault with intent to commit a crime. Deputies say Diaz will be held without bail.

MONTURA, Florida —

A man was arrested after allegedly sexually abusing an underage girl in Hendry County.

According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a disturbance at a home in the Montura Ranch Estates community on July 11.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an underage girl and 48-year-old William Diaz. The girl told officers that Diaz had sexually assaulted her.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment. During the investigation, it became known that Diaz had threatened the teenager and other family members, the HCSO said.

Diaz is accused of the following:

  • Sexual assault by a guardian (3 counts)
  • Sexual assault with weapons or violence
  • Victims of lewd or lascivious assault aged 12 to 16 (3 cases)
  • Indecent or lascivious harassment (3 cases)
  • Threats, blackmail to commit a crime
  • Serious bodily harm with intent to commit a crime

Deputies say Diaz is being held without bail.
