Catholic school teacher allegedly sent sexually explicit photos to 14-year-old

A Delaware Catholic school teacher has been charged with sending sexually explicit photos to a 14-year-old former student, police said.

Alanis Pinion, a 24-year-old 8th grade teacher at St. Mary Magdalen School in Wilmington, was arrested by New Castle County police on Thursday.

Investigators found that Pinion frequently communicated with her students via Snapchat – and sent sexually explicit photos to one of them.

Police notified the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, which runs the school, and they cooperated fully with the investigation.

Pinion is charged with one count of sexual battery of a child under 18, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of first-degree public nuisance.

She was tried and placed in Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution after failing to pay $46,000 bail.
