Sherrod Brown calls on Biden to suspend his re-election campaign

Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), who faces a tough re-election battle, became the fourth Senate Democrat to call on President Joe Biden to drop out of the race.

“Over the past few weeks, I’ve heard from Ohioans on important issues like how we can continue to create jobs in our state, give law enforcement the tools to fight fentanyl, protect Social Security and Medicare from cuts, and stop ongoing efforts to pass a national abortion ban,” Brown said in a statement to NBC News. “These are the issues that matter to Ohioans, and it’s my job to keep fighting for them.”

“I agree with the many Ohioans who have reached out to me,” Brown added. “At this critical time, our full attention must be returned to these important issues. I think the president should end his campaign.”
