Teen shot dead on Atlanta road. Grandmother killed on same road years earlier – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA, Ga. — A 16-year-old boy shot earlier was killed on the same road where his grandmother was strangled to death several years earlier.

Marcus Weems was shot and killed near the Reserve Hollywood apartment complex on Hollywood Road on July 10.

Weems appeared on News on channel 2 in 2017 after finding his maternal grandmother strangled to death in their shared apartment on the same road when he was just 9 years old.

“She always made me peanut butter and jelly sandwiches,” he said of his grandmother at the time.

Tyisha from channel 2 He spoke with his paternal grandmother, who said Hollywood Road was tragically familiar to her. She did not wish to be identified, but said Weems had called her and asked her to pick him up the day he was killed. She was at work.

“That’s what I regret the most today,” she said. “He called me that morning and wished I would come get him because he was calling for help. Two or three hours later, I got his call.”

Police have released video showing three suspects they hope the public will help identify. His grandmother said he was with teenagers in the apartments just before his death.

Weems’ grandmother said he had had a difficult life since his maternal grandmother died, but he still went to school, worked and had recently become a father.

“We want justice. We hope for justice. We need justice. And we ask for justice,” her grandmother said. “But we also know that God has his own timetable, so we’re going to wait.”

Police are asking anyone who recognizes Weems’ killer to call CrimeStoppers.
