Increasing probability of storms until the weekend

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The chance of showers and thunderstorms remains through the weekend, and humidity will linger. A cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms tonight and throughout the day Saturday.

TONIGHT

There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening. The chance of rain is 60% in the evening, so there’s no reason to cancel evening plans. But keep the First Alert Weather app handy throughout the night.

As these storms move through the area, we can expect heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning. There could be sudden showers and storms along the Grand Strand and inland, which could move through the area through tonight.

MORNING

Temperatures will be around 30 degrees tomorrow both on the beaches and inland. There will also be another day where we can expect thunderstorms. Some of us will probably wake up to rain tomorrow, but nothing major.

If you plan on going to the beach, you still have time, so we won’t see any more activity until later in the evening.

SUNDAY

Starting Sunday, drier air from the upper atmosphere will move into the region, bringing the chance of storms back down to 40%. The heat index will rise above 100 again on Sunday afternoon before storms develop.

On Sunday, the chance of rain will drop to 40%, with some isolated showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures on Sunday will remain between 30 and 35 degrees.

The greatest probability for such showers and thunderstorms will be later on Sunday.
