Driver hospitalized after wrong-way crash on Highway 101 in Ventura

VENTURA, CA (July 19, 2024) – A man was injured in a wrong-way driving accident on Highway 101 near Oak Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the car crash occurred on Wednesday around 8 p.m. For unknown reasons, an 88-year-old man driving a 2017 Nissan was traveling south in the northbound lanes of the highway. His Nissan, which was traveling in the left lane, then crashed into the median near Oak Street.

Shortly thereafter, Good Samaritans stopped and assisted him with life-saving measures. When they arrived, firefighters extricated the man from the vehicle and took him to Ventura County Medical Center with serious internal injuries.

It appears that he was not wearing a seatbelt.

There is no information about the cause of the accident. However, the authorities are continuing to investigate the accident.
