1 dead and 1 injured after accident at Dearborn intersection

One person is dead and another injured after a speeder ignored a traffic light in Dearborn on Friday morning, according to police.

According to a Dearborn Police Department social media post, police were called to the corner of Michigan Avenue and Nowlin Street at 7:59 a.m. for the accident.

The location is in front of a row of shopping centers.

Police preliminarily believe that a 26-year-old Taylor woman was driving an SUV traveling eastbound on Michigan Avenue exceeding the speed limit when she failed to stop at a traffic light at the intersection.

The SUV collided with an F-150 truck traveling north on Nowlin, police said.

The driver of the F-150, a 33-year-old Dearborn resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The 26-year-old Taylor resident was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition.
