JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A 36-year-old Johnston mother was killed in a car crash Thursday evening, according to Johnston Police.

Officials reported that Michaela Greatorex of Greenville was driving east on Hartford Avenue around midnight during a rainstorm when her car struck a utility pole.

Greatorex was later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.

A loved one has since started a GoFundMe campaign for her family, saying Greatorex leaves behind a 9-year-old and 11-year-old son.

Funds from the GoFundMe campaign will be used for her funeral expenses.

So far, over $40,000 has been raised.

The police are actively investigating the incident.
