The cleric praised the youth for their efforts to improve governance and pointed to some of the protesters’ successes, including the dismissal of the cabinet and the resignation of police chief Japhet Koome.

He claimed that the protests had been infiltrated by selfish individuals who had other motives than the original ones.

“We appeal to the protesters to stop protesting and give the government time to address the numerous demands, some of which the President has already addressed, including the dismissal of most of his cabinet secretaries, the signing of the IEBC Amendment Bill 2024 and the resignation of the Inspector General of Police,” said Ole Sapit.

Ole Sapit said the church would monitor government actions to ensure that the promises made are implemented and urged Generation Z to refrain from actions that could jeopardise the country’s future.

What is Ole Sapit’s advice to Ruto?

He also called on the head of state to implement the people’s other demands and not to make empty promises.

“In light of these measures, the government must present an implementation matrix for these demands within the next week and make them open to public scrutiny and monitoring. There is a lot of talk about creating jobs for young people; this must be backed up by real actions,” he said.

He believed that Kenyans did not see the value of their money and appealed to Ruto to abolish housing and fuel taxes.

Ole Sapit also called for the abolition of the current university funding model, arguing that it denies many students access to higher education.
