GoBike Buffalo’s ‘Skyride’ to be available Sunday

Buffalo, New York (WBEN) – This Sunday morning, some 1,500 cyclists will hit the Skyway for the 10th annual Skyride. Organizers say it’s not too late to participate.

Kevin Heffernan says he is excited about this milestone.

“What we tell people, since they’ve seen a lot of it, is if you can ride a bike, you can handle the Skyway,” Heffernan said, describing the hill as gradual and worth the climb to reach the top.

He adds that you can take as many trips as you want during the three-hour window and ride at your own pace.

Over the years, Heffernan says the event has grown, with more and more participants coming from out of town.

“We’ve met with people from Pennsylvania who are traveling from Maryland and are staying in Buffalo this week,” Heffernan told WBEN.

Heffernan adds that a couple has been trying to do this for some time, but haven’t been able to get the timing right until now.

It’s not too late to register. You have until 10 a.m. ET on Friday to register online. Heffernan says registration fees will increase on Sunday. Same-day registration is at Terminal B, the Outer Harbor concert venue.

Heffernan hopes to welcome 1,500 runners on Sunday morning.
